Use your passion to become a champion

Are you looking to make a difference? We’re talking about a BIG difference — one that can help people all over the world. Then you’re in the right place. Sign up to become a Team Roswell champion and fundraise for cancer cures! By creating a Team Roswell fundraiser, you are raising money for Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

While Roswell Park might be located in our backyard here in Buffalo, New York, the cutting-edge research that takes place here reaches much farther than just WNY. Innovative therapies and new treatments from Roswell Park are being offered at different hospitals around the country!

Come up with an idea!

From bake sales to setting sail, video games to bowling lanes, prom night to paint night — you can turn just about anything into a Team Roswell fundraiser. Here are a few ideas to help you brainstorm:

Dress-down/theme day

Set a theme (pick a decade and dress in that style; PJs; a specific color; etc.) and have people pay to dress that way for a day.

Sell something

Candy bars, popcorn, t-shirts, wrapping paper, cookies – the possibilities are endless! Use the proceeds from your sale to fuel cutting-edge cancer research.

Add a basket raffle

Is there a basketball, football or volleyball game coming up? Any sporting event will do! Collect baskets and items to raffle off at the big game. People can buy tickets before and during the game, then leave with a basket if they win.

Special after-school event

Movie night? High school lock-in? Painting night in the art room? Grab your friends, plan a fun event and charge admission.

Have your school go bald

Get your school to sign up for Bald for Bucks. Students can raise money as they prepare to cut, style or shave their way to cancer cures. Hold a pep rally and cheer on your classmates as they shave their heads to stand in solidarity with the cancer patients you’re helping.

Walk, run or dance

It doesn’t matter, just get up and move! Select a time and place and encourage your friends to sign up for your Walk-A-Thon. Pick a time limit or distance and collect pledges for how long you can last. For example, have a 4-hour dance marathon or a 25-mile walkathon.

The Process

Now that you have your idea, propose a date, time and place. Make a list of all the things you’ll need for a successful fundraiser, too.

Go to your favorite teacher, coach or school administrator and tell them about your idea. Ask for their suggestions and advice. They can help you fine-tune your idea and help get your school’s approval.

You will need to get the approval of your school in order to proceed any further. Download & submit the letter from the Fundraising page explaining your idea and why this fundraiser is important to you. If you need any more help, connect with us!

If you haven’t already, contact us and let us know what you are up to! We can help you set up an online fundraising page and will send an event pack to help with your fundraising and promotions.

You have your idea. You have your date. You have a to-do list. It’s time to get started! Don’t do it alone – recruit some friends to help you. It’s more fun that way, too.
