Team Roswell: Top fall and winter 2023 cancer fundraisers

Our Team Roswell event coordinators go above and beyond to make a difference in the mission to end cancer. They dedicate their time and skills to champion cancer cures, raising critically needed funds that drive cancer research and patient care programs at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 saw an incredible 49 unique Team Roswell events with hundreds of people coming together for the cause. From fine cuisine to horseback riding and everything in between, these events showcased the countless ways people in your community are giving back.

Summer Splash

Event Chair Shannon Tedesco, alongside a committee of other dedicated volunteers, brought summer to a close with a huge splash! Their annual waterfront cocktail party returned this past August following a brief hiatus and raised $70,000 for the Courage of Carly Fund. The event saw a 3D cameras, refreshing beverages and countless memories made — all to give children with cancer and blood disorders the fighting chance they deserve.

“Seeing that you helped to make a kid’s day or watching the relief on a mom or dad’s face knowing that they are going to have a little bit of support, that’s all I really need to keep me going,” Shannon said.

Saddle Up for Roswell

For Megan Garmin and Sue Williams, no obstacle is too big when it comes to finding cures for cancer. That is the mindset that kept their event, Saddle Up for Rowsell, going strong for 18 years. This September, they raised an incredible $20,899 for breast cancer research, marking $290,000 raised for cancer research at Roswell Park since the event’s inception.

“We just thought it was a perfect partnership to raise money for Roswell, and it’s such a wonderful cause,” Megan said. 

Hockey Mom Foundation Golf Tournament

The Hockey Mom Foundation hosted its eight annual golf tournament this past September at Glen Oaks Golf Club, raising an incredible $25,000 for pancreatic immunotherapy trials at Roswell Park. The organization is committed to raising funds for cancer research and patient care. Over the past few years, they have supported clinical trials at Roswell Park for the brain cancer vaccine, SurVaxM, and the use of curaxins (novel small molecules with anti-cancer properties) in pediatric patients.

A Taste For life

A Taste For Life Wine TAsting

A Taste For Life is a sensational evening where guests sample fabulous wines, craft beers and sweet and savory treats while supporting groundbreaking research advancing lung cancer treatments and therapies at Roswell Park. The annual event, which recently celebrated its 12th year, is hosted by the Susan and Steven Roney and Sharon and Tom McCann and raised more than $55,000 this past September for lung cancer research at Roswell Park.
