Raising money for Roswell Park takes many different forms, especially with Team Roswell, where participants are encouraged to lean into their unique interests or skills as they champion cancer cures. June and July of 2023 were great examples of the versatility among Team Roswell events. From hosting an overnight lock-in to leading a charity regatta, these creative ideas have turned into traditions that are truly making a difference in the lives of cancer patients.

Locked-In to Lock-Out Cancer

Starpoint High School students came together in a collective effort to end cancer once again. Every year, the school’s Locked-In to Lock-Out Cancer Club hosts an overnight lock-in to benefit the Courage of Carly Fund. The event was held on June 6, 2023, and raised $21,000 – the club’s largest donation in the fundraiser’s 11-year history.
Vullo Boys Walk for a Cure

On June 11, 2023, the Vullo Family hosted a multifaceted fundraiser called Vullo Boys Walk for a Cure. The event included a bake sale, basket raffle, bounce house and food trucks. With support from the community, Vullo Boys Walk for a Cure raised $22,000 for Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Organizers are already looking forward to next year.
100 Holes of Golf at Wanakah Country Club

The eighth annual 100 Holes of Golf at Wanakah Country Club was held on Thursday, June 29, 2023. During this summertime favorite event, 26 golfers and three relay teams each played 100 holes of golf, walking every step of the way. The event raised a total of nearly $150,000 for the Courage of Carly Fund at Roswell Park.
The 11 Day Power Play Community Shift

The 11 Day Power Play, Team Roswell’s largest fundraiser, has grown into a Western New York staple since it was founded back in 2016. During this year’s event, which took place from Wednesday, June 21, 2023, to Saturday, July 1, 2023, more than 2,300 hockey players took shifts on the ice in a shared effort to fight cancer. The 11 Day Power Play has donated more than $5 million for research and wellness programs at Roswell Park. In 2023 alone, The 11 Day Power Play Community Shift raised $1.65 million.
Sail for Roswell

Sail for Roswell was a weekend-long celebration benefiting Roswell Park. The event kicked off on July 7, 2023, with an exhibition sail in front of the Buffalo Yacht Club, featuring area high school sailing teams. The following day included the staple charity regatta, a gala dinner and silent and live auctions. The 2023 Sail for Roswell raised nearly $200,000 to fight cancer.
